Erin Monast

My journey began back in 1996 with my training at Bancroft School of
Massage Therapy. I graduated in Septemberof 1997 and became  Nationally Certified
shorty after.  In June of 1998 I married my husband Jason.  A year later I became certified in pre and peri-natal massage after taking Carole  Osbourne-Sheets Pre & Peri Natal Massage Therapy training.  In 2003 I became certified in Mother Massage(R) after taking  another training that certifies massage therapists to work with women during pregnancy and after Elaine Stillerman.  From then on I became estatic about having the opportunity of working with a pregnant mom and the positive
effects massage has on both the mother and her baby. In between taking those two trainings I myself became pregnant .   I experienced a wonderful pregnancy and birth
so much so that 4 years later while I was pregnant with my second child I felt the need to train to become a birth doula so that I could bear witness to other women feeling their power and using it to have an empowering experience as I did.  My training consisted  of
spending several days learning from the wonderful Penny Simkin.  After the
training I once again gave birth using my trust in birth and the power of my
body.  About a year after my second daughter was born I began attending births
as a trainee with the help of Louise Racine-Bastarache, CNM.  In 2006 I received
my certification from DONA International as a birth doula.  Since then I have
attended over 20 births and am still in awe when I get the opportunity to
witness the power of a woman as she births her baby.  Along with my
DONA International certification I have also achieved these certifications Baby's First Massage Instructor, Happiest Baby on the Block, HypnoBirthing(R)
HypnoMothering(R) and Rock Your Birth.  I also have experience working with families during the  PostPartum period.  In 2011 I received the Top Young Professionals Under 40 Award.
